Midland Theatre Ballet; Day 1

To be dancing at MTB again was wonderful! The day started with classical class, taught by Ruth Brill, from Birmingham Royal Ballet. Then, we worked on the Lilac Fairy variation from Sleeping Beauty, which was pretty but very tiring! It was The Royal Ballet's version, so it was quite tricky: there was a sequence of fouette releves at the end that challenged everyone!! ;) Continuing with the Sleeping Beauty repertoire, we learnt a corps de ballet version of the Rose Adagio, then in the afternoon, Ruth taught us the Princess Florine solo. Although my new pointe shoes seemed comfortable last week, my feet seemed to ache a lot more today- until I realised i'd put my shoes on the wrong feet! no wonder they felt odd! The final class of the day was Jazz: Olivia Pickford taught the 'Carabosse & Gargoyles' scene, with a modernised twist (think more Matthew Bourne choreography than Petipa!!!) It was really fun and dynamic, hopefully i'll still remember it by tomorrow ;)
